Most of the time nicknames come directly from the viewer base, however, you always have the option of naming your own followers. Nicknames are a fun way to address your loyal subscribers as a whole and the concept does not stop at youtube. Many music stars have fan group names: Justin Bieber's “Beliebers”, Beyonce’s “Beyhive”, and Lady GaGa’s “Monsters”. These names can be a play on your channel name (or your name), a funny moment or meme that derived from your content, or even something totally irreverent depending onthe type of content you create. The options are limitless!
Why use a nickname?
A nickname is a small gesture that goes a long way. Many channels use it as an appreciation giveaway or contest when they reach a subscriber milestone or a way to take the pulse of their viewer base through a poll vote.
